On behalf of the organizing committee for the 7th Annual Fraser Early Psychosis
conference, our heartfelt thanks to you and your comic colleagues. Indeed, the
standing ovation said it all! The 400 members of the audience loved the Stand
Up For Mental Health show you and your comics did for us. It was a huge success
and really made our conference special. Our colleagues will be talking about your
show for a long time. SUMH is a powerful way to ensure that clients and
families are represented in a conference program. It was
hilarious and inspiring to see your comics talk about their mental illness and
addiction issues in their acts. Our people could really relate to what they had
to say. We were amazed at how professional the comics were. It's great to
see the funny courageous side of our clients, and in our line of work we can always
use a good laugh. We'd be glad to recommend you to other groups putting
on events.

This was a terrific presentation, which highlighted the incredible talent and
courage of the comics all the while provoking unrestrained laughter and understanding
from the audience. We hope that this comedy night and the stand-up training
will become part of the programming made available to persons with mental health
issues in the Nanaimo region. We also know it will become
a "Must-have" ticket in the community. |

Thanks for a wonderful performance
on March 6th at our CACTUS event.
Everyone who attended the show enjoyed
it very much. We were especially impressed with the caliber
of humor and the ways in which the individuals presenting to us the stand
up comedy were able to paint a picture of their lives and experiences living with
mental illness in a way that both helped us to understand their struggles as well
as join in laughing at the often intolerable absurdities of their lives. We
were so happy to be able to support this project and to contribute to what is
no doubt an empowering experience for these individuals. Most of us in the audience
would be terrified to just stand up on that stage, much less try to be funny,
tell a joke or sing! |
Thank
you again for this experience. Syd Malchy, Project Director |
Congratulations
to you and your students for your wonderful Stand Up For Mental Health presentation
on fighting stigma in the workplace at our COFAS conference. I received so much
positive feedback. Everyone just loved it. Your comics
were hilarious. We were so impressed at their ability to talk openly about
mental illness in such a hilarious way. It was a great way to put a human face
on mental illness and to encourage people to talk about it
and address it in our workplaces. Your performance really proved
that humour is not only the best medicine, but also a great way of bringing mental
illness out of the closet in a safe way. Who would have thought talking about
mental illness could be so much fun! |

I
want to thank you and your comics for your contribution to our Team Day. Feedback
from the staff was very positive and included words like courage, destigmatize,
humanize, admiration, inspire and inspiring, talented, potential, and not to forget,
just a whole lot of fun. From this we have all been touched by the effort
that it takes to reach beyond our expectations both for our clients and now for
ourselves. We will forever view the potential in each person whose life we are
involved with greatly expanded horizons. Thank you for creating
this opportunity for us to learn and grow as people and as professionals.

| Thanks
so much for coming to do the workshop last week. I've talked with several of the
participants, including staff, who have had very positive things to say. Above
all, one youth commented "it was a breath of fresh air to be able
to talk about myself without feeling bad. |

On
behalf of the BC Schizophrenia Society North Shore Branch, thank you very much,
David, and please extend our thanks to your performers, for an exhilarating evening
from a great group of comics. Our members enjoyed themselves tremendously.
I hope some of your troupe consider comedy as a career as there is no doubt of
their talent. |

The
Canadian Mental Health Association, Peterborough Branch, was proud to host David
Granirer and his fine "Stand Up for Mental Health" show on 4 October
2006. The show was an incredible in many ways;
as a vehicle to showcase great comedy, as a forum for public education, and as
a venue for recovery in action. |
