| What
people are saying about David's work teaching stand up comedy to people with mental
illness: |
|
Thanks David, you did a great job training three of our clients to be stand
up comics. Not only did they benefit from your course but
their acts were hilarious and recieved much enthusiastic and hearfelt applause
from the audiences. The training you gave, increased self confidence and self
esteem while the quality of the shows demonstrated to the public what people with
mental illness could do and thus helped lessen stigma. |

| With over a dozen courageous comics,
your show portrayed a unified, energetic team commmitted to sharing their journeys,
talents and bravery with the audience while supporting each other on their individual
effort to do so. Each comedian, with his or her own style, enthusiasm, and stories
contributed to a very enjoyable evening they literally
filled the room with energy and laughter. If your comics aim to reduce
public stigma around mental illness and spread a message of hope and empowerment
we can only thank them for this was exactly their gift to us. |

I would like to extend my warmest thanks for your performance at our recent
AGM. We had a larger than usual turnout for the event, despite it being the same
night as a Stanley Cup Final game, and I am sure you were
a major draw for us. As members of your group were performing there was
a lot of laughter and a warm feeling through the room. |

| Thanks for the great
show that you and your group of comics did for Pathways Clubhouse. It was so inspiring
to see people with mental illness find the humor in their struggles and share
it with our members. The fact that several of our members were part of the show
was also of great benefit both to them and to the audience. Your
work truly gives people with mental illness a chance to showcase their talents,
boost their self-esteem and reduce public stigma around mental illness. |

Thank you for the fantastic "Stand Up For Mental Health" show that
you and your comics performed at our Partnership Appreciation Day. Your comics
were hilarious! We really appreciated their abiliy to discuss a serious topic
like mental ilness in such a funny way. Your show was
the perfect way to end our conference. It gave us all great laughs and
insights to take home with us. It was truly inspiring to see them prove what people
with mental illness are capable of doing. Many of our partners wrote on
their evaluations at the end of the day "Great performance" in regards
to the comics. We really do thank you for sharing the laughs with us and I'm sure
we'll be in contact again. |

Thank you for your group's stand up comedy show. The show provides an excellent
opportunity for people with mental health difficulties, those who perform and
those in the audience, to defuse painful experiences, lighten the psychological
load and strengthen their immune system as well as their spirit by laughter and
changing their perspective. Comments from people in the audience: "excellent
show," "courageous group," "very funny," and "enjoyable." The
group has some very talented people whose creativity is inspiring to others to
develop their own skills in coping and helping others." |
