Initial Three Month Course And Showcases

Classes:

Classes take place once a week on Tuesday afternoons from 1-4 p.m. Students learn how to write, perform, structure and edit a comedy act of between 3-6 minutes.

Coaching: Each student receives one-to-one coaching with the instructor as needed.
Materials: Each student receives the Stand-Up Comedy Clinic workbook and CDs. This workbook is adapted from the Stand-Up Comedy Clinic course David Granirer has taught at Langara College for the past nine years.
Warm Up Shows: After approximately three months of classes, the students do their first shows. We choose venues where we know the audience will be super supportive.

SMH is proud to partner with Myra Donnelly-Gay and the Healthy Minds Cooperative and Anthony Prime of the Nova Scotia Department of Mental Health, Children's and Addiction Services to continue to run its SMH Halifax Program in 2010.

We share The Healthy Minds Cooperative's values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity and solidarity.

We are excited about working with Dr. Tom Traves and Marc Braithwaite at Dalhousie University as we plan to bring SMH Day on Campus to Dalhousie October 4th, during MIAW – National Mental Illness Awareness Week.

SMH is proud to work with Mary Peters and the Nova Scotia Federal Council. We will be doing two shows for the Council in Halifax on June 17.

The courage and talent of our SMH Halifax Comics continues to inspire and entertain us all.
